I’m going to a wedding with my dad tomorrow.
Mind you, we don’t get a long very well.
Mind you, a father who thinks children are to be seen and not heard.
Dearest Dad, I’m twenty now.
Perhaps he shouldn’t have had such an opinionated daughter then.
And perhaps all I’ve ever done is try to make him proud.
I work hard, I’m honest, I care about people, I pay my bills, have my own house, and understand the importance of family,
But I’m still seen as an irresponsible and disrespectful misfit.
I bet if I ever tried to explain how eager I am for his acceptance,
He would merely respond with a, “Well anyways…”
He’s good at that.
